A frequent problem when selecting your password is choosing one that is secure yet easy to remember and that meets the following standards:

• Minimum of 8 and maximum of 20 characters long
• Contains at least three numbers
• Contains at least one upper case or one lower case alphabetic character (ie A-Z, a-z)
• Special characters may be used if they are one of the following: @#$%&+=?
• Not be a regular word contained in a dictionary (eg password, bank, etc.)
• Not be based on any number that could be linked to you by other persons such as your date of birth or any alphabetical code that is a recognisable part of your name

If you do select a code based on your date of birth or your name you may be liable for any loss that results from any unauthorised use of your code.

To choose a good Password:

Follow the steps below to help you choose a secure password that you can easily remember, but is unlikely that anyone else will guess:

1. Pick a phrase or song with special meaning to you (e.g. nursery rhyme Twinkle twinkle little star). Take the first letters of a given verse of the song, or of the phrase (e.g. Twinkle twinkle little star = Ttls).
2. Pick a number that you can remember easily, preferably not your date of birth, and add it to the front or back of the letters from step 1 (e.g. 112).
3. Pick one or more special characters (one of the following: @#$%&+=?). Add this to either the back, front, or middle of your new password (e.g. ?).

The above example will result in the following password:

112Ttls?
